The Honest AI: How a Bot Named "Boardy" Changed My Mind About Scheduling

We’ve all received them—those automated outreach emails that try just a little too hard to sound like a real person.

But recently, I had an experience with an AI tool that was refreshingly different.

I received an email from "Boardy." Right off the bat, it didn't pretend to be human. When I responded, it openly declared:

“I’m actually an AI. I’m not a human being. I just schedule meetings, understand what you need, and do my job.”

Honestly? I loved it. It was loose, it was direct, and above all, it was transparent.

The Texting Shift: Goodbye, Scheduling Links

After that initial email, Boardy gave me a choice: I could go to a website and fill out a bunch of tedious forms, or I could just text.

I opted to text.

What followed was the easiest scheduling experience I’ve had in a long time. If I needed to change something, I didn't have to hunt for a "reschedule" button. I just texted “cancel,” and Boardy sent a new link. I provided a new date and time, and that was it.

There was no back-and-forth email chain, no navigating complex calendars, and no clunky workflows. Even though I knew there wasn't a human behind the screen, the convenience of texting made the entire process incredibly simple.

Why We Need More "Honest AI"

What really resonated with me was the tool's honesty.

I often wish we saw this level of transparency across all AI platforms. Imagine if search engines or chatbots just admitted:

“Hey, I might be hallucinating right now because I’m an AI, I don’t know when to stop, or I don't know how to respond because you haven't prompted me correctly yet.”

Instead of trying to trick us into thinking we are talking to a real person, Boardy embraced its programming.

AI is evolving rapidly, and we are seeing it used more frequently to prospect, find clients, and manage initial outreach. It saves time, but it also raises an interesting question:

Do you actually know if the person emailing you right now is human?

For all we know, we are interacting with bots half the time.

The Future of Everyday Productivity

As we continue to integrate AI into our daily lives and learn how to use it efficiently, tools like this just make sense.

It makes me wonder: will people stop using traditional scheduling platforms like Calendly or tidycal entirely, and just let AI conversational bots handle it? (As long as the AI reads our calendars properly, of course!)

Trying something new can be hesitant, but this 48-hour experiment showed me a glimpse of how seamless everyday AI can be when it’s done right.

What about you?
