Choosing Humanity Over Algorithms: Why Creativity Can't Be Automated

I was talking about creativity earlier today in a meeting.

In the world we live in now—where we obsess over how many people are liking our posts, wonder how many of our followers are actually bots, and watch our numbers on LinkedIn and Instagram go up and down—it’s easy to get lost.

That’s when I think, you know what? The point is that we are all trying to find our creative side. If we’ve buried it for a long time, like I did, it’s coming back. So, I am here to be creative. I am here to put what I love and what I’m passionate about out into the world. Creativity is definitely that for me.

I’ve noticed it on LinkedIn like everyone else: there are a lot of fake accounts out there and a lot of strange things online. We’ve engrossed ourselves in this internet world since 1998, 1999, or 2000—I don't even remember the exact year anymore because I've watched all this change with my own eyes.

I can still remember when my mom taught me MS-DOS commands so I could work on a computer for school. Now, I don't use DOS commands at all. Instead, we use a PIN code, yet another password, or Okta, with a whole separate login just for that one account.

Sometimes, it feels like technology might be killing creativity—and AI is doing that, too.

But I am always going to choose to be human.

I’m going to use my heart and my soul. My creativity will be out there, whether it’s in the form of a poem, a blog post, the way I love to dance, the way I coach, or how I design solutions for my own clients.

When I solve a problem, it’s going to be creative. It’s never going to be just "normal," because to me, anything too normal is simply boring.

Maybe that’s what it really comes down to.

Maybe the endless chase for likes and follows has just become boring. Maybe we just want to see that everyone is being human—actually saying something, actually talking about the real point being made, and genuinely engaging with what we creatively put out there.

So, let’s all remember that creativity is where we can truly connect and engage. The more aware we are, and the more we tap into that awareness we’ve always had (even when we were scared of it), the more creativity happens.

It may happen slowly, and we can't force it, but it’s always there.

Let's not ignore it.
